About Marinerreview
We help families find each other across time.
Marinerreview is run by Mariner Finance LLC. We build, operate and support the service ourselves, from the family-tree tools to the people who answer your email.
Who we are
Mariner Finance LLC operates Marinerreview from 8110 Corporate Drive, Nottingham, MD 21236. We are a small team of researchers, designers and support staff who care about how people learn where they come from. Nearly every family has a story that was almost lost: a grandparent who rarely spoke about the old country, a photograph with no names on the back, a surname that changed at a border. We built Marinerreview for the moments when someone decides to look into it.
What we do
We provide a private workspace for building a family tree, a set of tools for searching historical records, and a place to keep and restore the photographs that tie it all together. We also offer optional DNA insights for people who want to add results they already have. Everything is designed so that you stay in charge of your own research: you decide what goes in the tree, who can see it, and what you keep.
We run it ourselves
We operate the service and answer support questions directly. When you write to us, you hear from our own team.
Leads, not promises
Records and hints are suggestions. We label them as possible matches and never present them as confirmed facts.
Privacy first
Family information is personal. We collect what we need to run your account and we do not sell personal information.
How we approach family history
Good genealogy is slow and careful. We encourage people to record where each fact came from, to hold conflicting dates side by side until a better record turns up, and to treat family legends as clues rather than conclusions. The tools reflect that approach. Every person in your tree can carry notes and sources, and every hint explains why it was suggested.
We also think about the relatives who are not at the keyboard. A tree includes living people, and some branches include people who would have preferred privacy. That is why living relatives are hidden from other members by default, and why you control the visibility of every branch.
Our principles
- Be clear. We explain what each feature does, what it needs from you, and what it cannot promise.
- Respect choice. Text messages are optional, separate from the Terms, and easy to stop. If you would rather hear from us by email, that is always enough.
- Be honest about limits. Records can be missing, damaged or misspelled. We would rather tell you that than overpromise.
- Keep it yours. You can download your tree and delete your account whenever you decide to.
What you can expect from us
When you register, you get an email confirmation, a private workspace and suggestions based on the names and places you enter. You do not get pressure. We do not send text messages unless you tick the separate box that asks for them, and we do not ask for sensitive identifiers such as a Social Security number or a bank account to open an account.
If a feature changes, we tell you in plain language. If you decide Marinerreview is not for you, you can download your tree and close your account, and we will process the request as described in our Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Use explain the rest of the relationship, including what happens to the content you add.
Family history is a long game, and we would like to be the kind of service that is still useful to you years from now, when you have finally traced the line that stopped at a single faded entry.
